ARTIST BIO
Who are we? How do we navigate our own becoming? And how do we weave ourselves into the tapestry of relationships and places?
As an artist working with both time-based media and still images, Pam's creative energy is fueled by a quest to find answers to the fundamental questions that shape our existence.
From this introspective perspective, Pam delves into the exploration of our shared universal experiences and emotions while peering behind the intricate scaffolding of societal expectations.
Pam's work digs deep, unearthing the origins of our self-perceptions and shedding light on the profound forces that have shaped us. Her work challenges the persona projected onto us by the world, inviting a coexistence with our authentic selves. In her quest for clarity, she employs metaphor and symbolism, deliberately blurring the line between truth and fiction.
Her work navigates the delicate interplay between the illusion of perfection and the evidence of the imperfect,
capturing the tenuous balance between cohesion and fragmentation.
Through examinations of matrilineal legacies, the complexities of inheritance, the intimacy of family dynamics, the significance of domestic objects, and the weight of societal pressures, Pam uncovers the inherent tension of individuation, inviting viewers to question their own narratives.
Pam's artwork has been prominently featured in group exhibitions across the United States and internationally. She has also garnered recognition in publications such as Rangefinder Magazine, One Twenty-five Magazine, and Click Magazine. In addition to her commitment to her fine art work, Pam passionately shares her knowledge and expertise as an educator, designing and leading workshops for fellow photographers.
Pam is currently pursuing her MFA in Media Arts at Maine Media College. For inquiries, she can be reached at pamkorman@gmail.com.
