ARTIST STATEMENT FOR THE WAYS YOU WILL GO :

As parents, we work hard to nurture our children and give them the foundation they need to become independent, freethinking people. But encouraging our children to follow their hearts inevitably leads them away from us. As we guide them along, we slowly and reluctantly release them, a little at a time, until they move forward as the people we encouraged them to be. The Ways You Will Go captures the tension between holding on and letting go. What we want most for our children can be the hardest to give, and so we try to send them off with our greatest hopes and hard-learned lessons. This project is a visual representation of the dreams and life lessons I have for my own children as I ease them into the world.
