I am honored to be part of PhotoPlace Gallery’s A Sense of Place Exhibition. Juried by the immensely talented, Jane Fulton Alt, the exhibition seeks “photographs that convey a ‘sense of place’ blending the physical characteristics of a scene, landscape or object with the mysterious essence that emerges from gradually and perhaps unconsciously inhabiting a place over time.”

To me, that is a beautiful ideal for an image to convey. Where and how we live or spend time is deeply personal and being able to capture how our presence imprints on a place is powerful. It becomes even more compelling when that imprint represents a universal experience.

This image, from my series Inside Friday Night, was captured late one Friday night as these two boys were leaving the boardwalk at the beach. What I love about this image is that it captures a moment that could be from almost any decade, if you ignore the cars, of course. It’s that “boys of summer” quintessential imagery that has been made part of our culture thanks to its exploration in music and literature.

It is always a great privilege to have an image included amongst an amazingly talented collection of artists. This is especially true with this exhibition. Please take a moment to check out the work. It is very powerful.

I am excited to welcome you to my new website and my new name: Pam Korman Photography. Actually, I guess I am welcoming you to my old/original name but you get the idea.

If you followed me on District Photography, this is the same me, just freshened up a bit to better reflect who I have become as an artist. I hope you take a moment to check out the site and get familiar with everything. You will see on the menu bar under FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS all of the workshops that I am currently offering and information on mentoring with me.

I am also introducing a NEWSLETTER where I will be sharing tips on shooting, editing, creating personal projects, goal setting and so much more. I hope you will join me and, as a thank you for signing up, you will receive a 22-page compositing and editing PDF covering how I created one of my

most popular images. You can check all of that out here.

Also, I will be making available for purchase a handful of my images. Images will only be available for a limited time, and only one of each image will be offered. Please keep an eye out for more details on this in an upcoming newsletter. Or feel free to reach out to me at if there is an image you are particularly interested in acquiring.

I am excited to continue on this journey with you. It is always an honor and a privilege. I know this passion we share isn't always easy, and I know we all suffer from highs, lows, and all the in-betweens so, with that, I leave you with this image. It is my newest image from my series called The Ways You Will Go. My thoughts on the image are below. I hope you enjoy and thank you again for stopping by!

Not Broken…Just Bent (above) acknowledges that powerful winds will move through your life, often at unexpected times. How you choose to respond becomes a testament to your character. In those moments, allow yourself the flexibility to bend with the wind. You never know what you might see from that perspective. But, once you have looked around, harness your roots, your core, and your center and stand tall again because the wind, no matter how strong, should never be allowed to break you.
